One Thursday night my mom took all of us to dad's bed. He was very dreadfully emaciated. He looked at me, called me by his side, and seemed to try saying something. Nevertheless, he could not. It was very difficult for him to even breathe. We all had no idea what was going on. Soon after that, I had returned to my study and others to their task. It was early in the morning the next day, the azan was going on, a Friday it was, mom rushed madly to where I was sleeping weeping and sobbing with dreadfulness.
She had sent me for the grandmother of my only friend Ghouse Khan living opposite to our house. The old woman came with her son Azeez bhai and they pronounced that my dearest dad was already dead. I remained shocked, dumbfound and dreadful for a completely long period. Untold grief and gloom settled everywhere in our family. An unforeseen and unpredictable ‘something’ had traumatized our very life of existence. The future looked ominous and direction less.
INNA LILLAHI WA INNA ILAIHI RAJIOON.
“O ye who believe! Seek help with patient perseverance and prayer; for Allah is with those who patiently persevere.
And say not of those who are slain in the way of Allah:”They are dead.” Nay, they are living, though ye perceive it not.
Be sure we shall test you with something of fear and hunger, some loss in goods or lives the fruits (of your toil), but give glad tidings to those who patiently persevere,
Who say, when afflicted with calamity:”To Allah we belong, and to Him is our return.”
They are those on whom (Descend) blessings from Allah, and Mercy, and they are the ones that receive guidance.”
The Quran: Chap 2:153 to 157.
