Center of the Coimbatore town was the Nawab Hakeem Road occupying a substantial Muslim population, around which only Coimbatore had stretched in all its sides and courses like an octopus, the kind you saw in the discovery T.V... The Mohammedan lane was one among the several ones connecting the Nawab Hakeem Road and the Oppanakkara Street. Just adjacent to Jamedar Street skirting the Rettapaippu maidan where local body election meetings as well as small-scale circus would come and go very often to the thrill delight and wonder of the kids. The entire space had always reeked like a filthy beggar fresh from a rotten fish market, a real gutter.
