29. ISLAM AND INNOVATIONS

The Islam that came through my grandparents was puritanic in nature and quest. Holy Book and Sunnah were the whole lot. All else was considered redundant and to be supplementary. The Koran and the hadees  were considered absolute and total. We were mostly recognized as ‘Ahle Hadees’ that means supporters of the prophets Sunah or tradition. My paternal lineage was imbued with Islamic scholarship and austere custom.”Towheed and salaf” were the columns on which they had put up the  structure of Islamic configuration.
The Islam which the Prophet and his companions practiced saw several  pagan innovations in its hypothesis and exercise, in passage of time. Some innovations that the later Islamic Imams and scholars permitted Islam to assimilate were totally UnIslamic. These conduct of innovation jeopardized the the real character of Islam and was to be discouraged totally.

Pagan and Heathen rituals and practices which had no basis in Islam were incorporated after the time of the prophet and his companions. Later converts to Islam had retained some local rituals and sacraments of the soil due to emotional and sentimental reasons. Most later Muslims were not up to standard in real belief, pursuit and preparation.
Knowledge of the Quran was confined to, as a sheer ceremony and so was the five times salah. No one took factual significance in reading the Book of Allah and the Hadeeth of the Prophet any longer. Even where the families which  demonstrated awe to the Islamic wisdom did not persist on finding what it was told in the books. The books were all in Arabic  and they did hardly very little in evaluating the translations.
Fiqh and shariah was unheard of to them and they hardly demonstrated any significance to unravel the reality they contained. The mullahs who later took to the masjid organization were ineffective to insist on any restructuring and they had little resources endowed with them to reform them too. They were not properly educated in Islamic religion in the tangible sense.
