My grand dad Mirza Qadir Baig Sahib and his brother Mirza Ali Baig Sahib were not born farmers and they hardly knew anything about cultivation and more than that they did not yearn for a living in rural area doing agriculture, so the offered land was not at all made use of and in the short passage of time our forefathers and their relatives had lost title to the land for good.
In later days when my aunt’s son Abdul Aziz Sahib who had seen service in Revenue Department was transferred to the division under whose jurisdiction the Darqast offered land existed, happened to know about it, sought my dad’s counselling for making a claim for the restoration of the lands. My dad had demonstrated least curiosity and significance in it and thus had desisted such move perpetually. Thus the land offered by the State for the service rendered by our forefathers was thrown to the winds due only to lack of vision for future by them, unfortunately.
My grand dads or their family members either were short of vision about the worth it would fetch in future course of time or were neglectful to the worldly resources and were scarcely after accumulating it. The later was true and factual on all counts. They loved simple life mostly devout and sought to be never humdrum in all walks of life. My father would often denounce the longing for the riches of this world, much less its name and fame. He desisted us from materialism and greediness.
He would portray in pictures the real hekayahs of our great Ashabees, how they had never fallen for affluence and worldly possessions. A celebrated sahabi (I am really sorry I do not remember the sahabi’s name, my dad would proudly recall ) who used to dispense all the wealth he would earn to the underprivileged and on the disadvantaged living in his time, was once asked what he had left for his sons and daughters when he would be gone.
He replied that Allah would look after them. The sahabi further said that if his children were god fearing Allah would without distrust help them. Once the children were not god fearing then he asked them why should he leave the god given assets to them. He further said the impious would undoubtedly bring into play the god given wherewithal towards evil pursuits.
