30.. ISLAM TODAY IS BESET WITH SUPERSTITIONS.

As a result due only to lack of effort and endeavor and concern in the  later followers of Islam, it became a  titular religion and the most self-styled Moslems were just ostensible and remained namesake only. Masjids became the worship houses of a few old  and young Muslim folks who gathered there to do their due sacramental worship, not knowing what essentially  and why actually they were doing all that they had been doing. Abounding ignorance of Islamic rulings and education made most of  these so-called Muslims plunge in all nature of UnIslamic rituals in the name of Islam in every institution of the Islamic society.

They followed many a superstitions Islam had condemned very intensely time and again. A few among them was putting conviction in horoscope and seeing if the bride and bridegroom could lead a prosperous life on the outcome of the horoscopic calculations. Believing in palmistry and putting faith that the future good and bad could be remedied acting upon what the palmist would blindly say. Seeing propitious time and day for starting any new course of action. Slaughtering any animal on other than Allah’s name and partaking of it. Having unflinching trust in black magic to overcome family quarrels propitiated by heathen and pagan infidels. All and more such superstitions were widespread. They so exist even today.

Visiting the shrines of saints and calling upon them, asking for their help for their day to day struggles and failings, making talisman of the Quranic verses and other absurd drawings 

wings on metals and wearing them around the necks and  hanging round their waists and hands as a shelter against the  trials and tribulations of  material and mental agony and shortcomings. Calling upon their dead and buried parents and forefathers to intercede with Allah for having  magical cures and worldly favors  and many more foolish actions were  just rampant. Even this day.

Celebrating  the birth and death days for their dead parents and invoking them for favors and clairvoyance on  particular days of the year, and  celebrating them with huge feasts and recitals of the meelad specific qaseedas, qawwalis and ghazals. They scarcely cared to keep five times  daily prayers, observe month long  fasting in Ramadan, pay obligatory Zakah payments and more such of the code of belief which  in Islam are obligatory but they would celebrate mouloods  and saintly birth day functions without fail which had no basic import in Islam. They would not offer Friday obligatory prayers but  they would give exceeding importance to chillah, chetty, chehlam and  ziyarah and such myriad  new found innovations in religion. They did not even bother to  fasting during the holy month of Ramadan. They were never ever interested to paying zakah. They were immersed in accumulating worldly riches even through outlawed and forbidden means of earnings such as devouring interest and practicing treacherous means, and fearlessly employing sinister and covert actions to grab someone’s wealth. Greediness was in their heart and blood. They were hardy ashamed of it. The world was everything for them, and they believed not in the hereafter.
